Religions for Peace-RfP Myanmar hosted the Asia Regional Consultation for the 10th World Assembly in Yangon yesterday.

The coordination meeting began with an opening addresses by Chairman of RFP U Myint Swe and Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko.

In his speech, Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko expressed hopes the RfP consultation and the World Assembly would achieve good means and ways for environmental issues, conflicts related with religions, educational issues and gender equality issue.

He also called for promoting understanding among different faiths in Asia and harmony among the communities with diverse culture and religions.

He also urged the religious organizations to participate and cooperate in promoting in tackling the climate change problems.

Afterwards, Patron of the RfP (Myanmar) Cardinal Charles Bo, Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin of RfP (Asia), Deputy Secretary General Rev. Kyoichi Sugino of RfP (International), Ambassador of Germany Madam Dorothee Janetzke Wenzel delivered addresses.

The meeting was participated by representatives RfPs from 21 countries and religious leaders, women leaders, youths and officials.
The meeting will end on 7th March.

Today meeting focused on prevention of conflicts and seeking common solution.
RfP has formed organzations in 90 countries and hold meeting every five year. Myanmar is the 90th member of RfP.—Yi Yi Phyo
