RICE and broken rice export to near­ly 50 destinations last year earned US$1,331.899 million, said the Myanmar Rice Federation in a statement.

 

A total of 103 companies exported rice and broken rice totalling 2,767,414 tonnes to 49 trade partner countries, earning $1,331.899 million of incomes.

 

MRF from the aspect of the private sector has worked on rice and broken rice export following the government’s policy and directives and at the same time, it has encouraged new export companies by sharing knowledge and conducting training on rice quality, quan­tity and the process of the international rice market, it said.

 

New exporters have engaged in rice and broken rice export sector in a systematic approach, it said. MRF membership expanded to 1,196 at the end of December 2024, up from 980 at the end of December 2023, it stated.

 

With the membership growth and their trust and cooperation, MRF will make sure better service, more efficient sharing of information and stronger cooperation, it added.

Including farmer groups, agricul­tural cooperative societies and rice mill­ers, MRF has invited exporters who are keen to cooperate in the rice and broken rice export sector in 2025 and would provide them market links and help in the operation, it said. — Htet Oo Maung/ZS
