AS many people are preparing to go back home during the Thingyan holiday, highway bus tickets have nearly run out in Yangon.
People who want to return to their hometowns have booked tickets and now only night bus tickets are left at some bus lines.
“For now, almost all tickets are sold out since 19 March because people already booked for Thingyan. We’re not sure that we will sell tickets on a daily plan when it closes to Thingyan,” said an official from the bus ticket counter at Aungmingala Highway Bus Terminal.
Most visitors who made the reservation are going back to Magway, Mandalay and Bago regions.
“I’ve arranged my trip for around 8 April but it’s pretty difficult to buy tickets for the date. I think the number of returnees will be large this year,” said a woman who will go back to her home in Mandalay Region during Thingyan. — Thit Taw/ZS
