Construction of two riverbank erosion protection projects has been completed in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region.

A retaining wall in Bayintnaung Ward, Myinmu Township is among the project that was built with Ks. 100 million funded by the regional government. It was built by the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems under the Ministry of Transport and Communication. Another retaining wall measuring 200 ft. in Sappangon Village was built by a private construction firm named “Ye Yint Aung Company” at a cost of Ks. 70 million.
The retaining walls are expected to prevent rural roads and farmlands from eroding, flooding and relocating, said U Thein Win, Village Administrator.—Aung Soe Pe (Myinmu)
