The Department of Agriculture handed over rice sacks contributed by Republic of Korea to the local government in Hpa-an, Kayin State.

1,325 rice bags equivalent to 53 tons of rice donated by Government of South Korea under Asian Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Plan were handed over to people in Kayin State through local authorities. The handing over ceremony of rice sacks was held at the meeting hall of the Department of Agriculture on December 15.
    

On the occasion, Kayin State Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Saw Myint Oo gave an opening speech and Director of the DoA U Than Htike clarified the purpose of rice donation. Next, the director of DoA handed over 53 tons of rice to the minister.
    

The rice is being stored at a hall belonging to the township development committee and will reportedly be distributed to respective townships.
