A ceremony to open a rural bridge which was built with Ks. 112.02 million of the Union Budget allotted by the Ministry of Border Affairs and Ks. 20 million contributed by local people and gold entrepreneurs was held in Phoungpyin Township, Sagaing Region this morning.


On the occasion, the Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Tun Wai made a speech and a local expressed word of gratitude. Next, an official from the Ministry of Border Affairs handed over documents relating to the bridge to the township development committee. The bridge was formally opened by Speaker of Regional parliament U Than, Regional Minister for Planning and Finance U Soe Oo, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Tin Maung Win, and an assistant engineer from the Border Areas and National Races Development Department by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. Afterwards, they posed for a group photo in front of the arch of the bridge.


The 60 ft. long, 18 ft. wide facility was constructed under the guidance of the Border Areas and National Races Development Department, according to a source from the General Administration Department. Also present on the occasion were the deputy commissioner, township administrator, departmental staff, residents and volunteers from NGOs and INGOs.
