Myawady, 25 June
Construction of a reinforced concrete bridge near Tarnawhta Village, Myawady Township in Kayin State has been 100 percent finished and the facility is set to open to public.
The 145 ft. long bridge was built by the Border Areas and National Races Development Department under the Ministry of Border Affairs. Deputy Director of the district development supervisory office U Saw Htoo and his entourage inspected the completion of the structure on 22 June. The bridge is located on the road leading to a historic pagoda built on the highest mountain in Kayin State. The department also upgraded the earthen road to a one-mile long, 18 ft. wide facility.
The new bridge would uplift socioeconomic status of about 5,500 local people from nine villages, thereby contributing to improving their education and health standard. The pilgrims across the country will be able to pay homage to Mulaei Pagoda in a convenient manner.—Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
