Wuntho, 22 April
A ceremony to open a gravel road and a rural electrification facility was held in conjunction with a talk about waste management system in Pannyo Village, Wuntho Township in Sagaing Region on Sunday morning.
The gravel road built with the funds from the Village Development Plan being undertaken by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation was opened by Speaker of the regional parliament U Than, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Khin Maung Win, Regional Lawmaker Daw Khaing Khaing Win, Deputy Commissioner U Tint Wai Thone and an official from the DRD.
An opening address by the regional parliament speaker followed. The regional legislator and the deputy commissioner also gave speeches. An official from the DRD explained activities being carried out by the department and Dr. Thein Than Win from the Department of Health disseminated knowledge about community-based waste management, infectious diseases and personal hygiene.
The event was also attended by departmental staff, village administrators, village development committee members, residents and guests totaling about 200 people.—Min Myint Mo (Ngazun)
