Shwebo, 18 August
A private firm named “Soe Moe Than Company” launched distribution of electricity to twelve villages out of 16 villages since the second week of July.

The task is the first phase of the National Electrification Plan (NEP) being implemented with the financial assistance from the World Bank under the supervision of the Electricity Supply Enterprise, said U Phone Myint Oo, the township electrical engineer.
Electricity meter boxes will be installed in the 12 villages where electricity is available. Efforts are being made to supply electricity to four remaining villages in September.—Moe Thauk (Shwebo)
