With a view to improving socioeconomic status of local people, a rural electrification facility funded by the Community-driven project is being implemented in Nyaung Village, Htilin Township in Sagaing Region.
The electrification structure is being built by a private company that has been awarded tender by the local government. The project is undertaken with Ks. 20.7 million in which Ks. 8.4 million was financed by the Community-driven project while Ks. 12.3 million was contributed by local people.
The electrification facility will be connected to the National Grid and the project is scheduled to finalize by the end of this year. Once completed, 639 local people from 123 households would be able to enjoy electricity round the clock, thereby contributing to development of education, health, social and economic sectors.
The Community-driven project is being carried out in 93 villages in the township and rural electrification facilities have been inaugurated in 51 villages so far.—Ye Win Naing (NyaungU)
