A ceremony to launch a rural electrification facility was held in Wetboe Village, YeU Township in Sagaing Region on 22 December.
    

On the occasion, Sagaing Region Minister for Electricity, Industry and Road Transport U Than Nyunt Win, Regional lawmaker U Myint Htwe, Chairman of the township management committee U Khin Maung Myint, departmental staff and local people unveiled the event by saluting the National Flag.
    

In his opening address, the regional minister said that the country achieved 50 percent of electricity consumption under its National Electrification Plan (NPE) whereas Sagaing Region also enjoyed similar amount of electricity. The local government implemented the project with financial assistance from the World Bank, he added. Out of 56 project villages in YeU Township, 24 villages have been facilitated with electricity so far, the minister said.


The regional MP and the township administrator also gave congratulatory speeches and the chairman of village electrification committee spoke words of thanks. Next, the regional minister, regional legislator and the township administrator cut a ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the electrification structure.—Than Than (YeU)
