Helta Light Engineering Company has started an electricity distribution task in KhinU Township, Sagaing Region since February under the supervision of the Electricity Supply Enterprise under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.
    

 

The project is the first phase of the National Electrification Plan (NEP) being implemented by the ESE with loans from the World Bank. The company is erecting concrete poles to install a power transmission line in order to distribute electricity for 37 villages from the National Grid. Of 5 quarters and 147 villages in KhinU Township, all wards and 37 villages only now have electricity access, said U Min Aung, the township electrical engineer from the ESE.
    

 

After the construction of concrete poles is finished, altogether 74 villages in KhinU Township will have access to electricity, he added.—Soe Wai Aung (IPRD)
