An inauguration of a rural road was held in Warguptaw Village in Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State yesterday morning.
First, a Buddhist monk gave a congratulatory speech and an official from the Department of Rural Development spoke words of thanks. Next, the monk, a village administrator and DRD official cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the rural road. The road measuring 1,880 ft. long, 14 ft. wide and 6 inch thick is of a concrete facility and was built a cost of more than 26 million kyats.
Construction of the road was started on November 25 and was completed on December 13. The rural road was built by the DRD with the financial assistance of World Bank under its community-driven project.
The new road is expected to contribute to improve health, education, economic and social activities of 3,220 residents from 540 households in the village.
