Rural developmental tasks are being undertaken by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Shanywathit Town, Kayin State.

The DRD has embarked on construction of a rural concrete road in Mekatawkhee Village in Shanywathit Town on December 17 under the community-driven project. 

The road measuring 125 ft. long, 12 ft. in wide and 6 inch thick is being built with 22 million kyats funded under the community-driven project.

Once completed, people in the village will be able to use the road in all seasons, thereby contributing to improving their socioeconomic status to a certain extent.
