THE ordinary passport holders of Russia and Myanmar can enjoy a 30-day visa exemption starting from 27 January 2026, according to an announcement released by the Russian government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 19 January.

The Russia-Myanmar mutual visa exemption agreement was signed in Minsk, Russia, on 28 October 2025, allowing Myanmar citizens to enter the Russian Federation without a visa for 30 days per visit.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also clarified that this does not relate to obtaining permanent residency, studying, or job purposes.

Similarly, the reciprocal visa-free travel agreement between Russia and Myanmar allows Russian citizens to stay in Myanmar without a visa for up to 30 days.
