Kyaukphyu, November 5
Sapling growing campaign launched in the mangrove forest in the village of Pyinphyumaw in Kyaukphyu township this morning, with the attendance of Rakhine State Minister for Agriculture, Livestock Breeding, Forest and Mines U Kyaw Lwin. The campaign was jointly organized by Environment Conservation Department and Forest Department with the aim of preventing mangrove forest in the area.
At the event, departmental personnel at district and township level, members of Women Affairs Association and members of Maternity and Child Care Association grew a total of 900 plants, establishing 0.08 acre of mangrove forest. Mangrove forest provides habitats for fish and crabs, provides firewood for local people, reducing the risks of storms, high tide and landslides.
