Construction of a structure at the Sitagu Buddhist University in Kyunhla Township, Sagaing Region is about 80 percent completed.
The facility is being built in the precinct of the Sitagu Buddhist University established by the founder of the International Buddhist Education Center (IBEC) and the Stockholm World Peace Prize 2018 winner U Sobita under the aegis of the Sitagu Sayadaw. The building measures 120 ft. in length and 68 ft. in width and is under construction at a cost of Ks 300 million donated by Dr Khin Khin Ye, Shine Hope Company.
A main building with 280 ft. in length and 200 ft. in width and 14 more classrooms would be built, said an official from the engineer group tasked with overseeing the construction task. The Sitagu Buddhist University began its academic year in 2016-2017, offering Abhidhamma course, computer training course and English language proficiency course.
Sitagu Buddhist Academy (Kyunhla) will accept 60 monks and 25 laypersons totaling 85 in the academic year 2019-2020, according to the Sitagu information section.
