A joint contingent of fire brigades and members of Red Cross Society practiced a rescue drill in Ngawon river in Laymyetna township, Ayeyarwady region yesterday afternoon. 


In the activity, U Zaw Myo Htay, head of the township Fire Services Department explained how to use rescue items such as speed boats, lifejackets, life-saving rope and conducted a search and rescue drill in the river. The aim of the drill is to be able to conduct relief and rescue operations in the township when faced natural disasters and to be able to minimize losses.


A total of 45 rescue workers- 20 firefighters, 15 auxiliary fire fighters and 10 people from Red Cross Association- participated in the rescue drill.—Shwe Mo ( Laymyethna)
