At the 12th day meeting of the Second Pyithu Hluttaw’s 12th regular session held at Pyithu Hluttaw meeting hall yesterday morning, questions raised by 13 Hluttaw representatives were answered by union level officials and a motion discussed and approved.

Question and answer session

In the question and answer session Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr. Ye Myint Swe responded to questions raised by U Maung Maung of Htigyaing constituency, U Win Naing of Mogaung constituency and U Sai Sai Mai, Mongkai constituency on compensation for damage to farm lands from power cable connected for Tagaungtaung Nickel Project and re-demarcation of forest areas.

Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe on the other hand replied to questions raised by U Tun Myint of Bahan constituency and U Saw Tin Win of Kya-in-Seikkyi constituency on a plan to build new office or move to new location the dilapidated Bahan Township immigration office and plans drawn to eradicate forced labour and preventing reoccurrence of it.

Questions on replacing power cables, installing power lines, transformers and power distribution to villages raised by Dr. U Saw Naing of South Okkalapa constituency, U Nay Htat Win of Sinbaungwe constituency and U Pho Maung of Pekhon constituency were answered by Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy Dr. Tun Naing.

Finally questions on education covering plan to build new school building, establishing an associate government technical institute (AGTI) in Dawei, upgrade of schools and improving drainage in a school raised by U Pa Htan of Matupi constituency, U Aung Soe of Thayetchaung constituency, U Aung Kyaw Oo of Mongton constituency, U Tin Nu @ U Tin Nu Aung from Manaung constituency and U Win Min of Hlinethaya constituency were answered by Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun.

Motion on teaching history and geography discussed and approved

Following the question and answer session a motion urging the government to increase the teaching of history and geography in middle school to produce more historians and geography experts on Myanmar tabled by U Aung Thike of Seikpyu constituency was discussed by U Sein Myint of Myingyan constituency, U Myint Lwin of Twantay constituency, U Shwe Hla @ U Shwe Hla Win of Thingangyun constituency, U Min Thein of Taungdwingyi constituency, U Saw Tun Mya Aung of Papun constituency, Tatmadaw Hluttaw representative Capt. Daw Myint Myint Nwe and U Nan Mon Htin of Machanbaw constituency.

As U Aung Thike wanted the motion to be approved by the Hluttaw and there was no objection toward it, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker announced the Hluttaw’s approval of the motion.
