The Second Pyithu Hluttaw’s 13th regular session held its third-day meeting at the Pyithu Hluttaw meeting hall yesterday, where asterisk-marked questions were raised and answered, a motion on best utilization of state-own factories, joint venture factories and industrial zones that were idle and Myanmar medical degree, diploma and certificate bill were tabled.

U Saw Thalay Saw of Shwegyin constituency raised the first question enquiring about plan to relax travel restriction of foreigners to restricted area, issuing of instructions and notifications to departments on creating opportunity and informing relaxation made and plan to develop regions where development is lagging behind. Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung answered that news was timely released by the ministry and the Ministry of Information while regional travel work committees were formed in Nay Pyi Taw Council and all states and regions. These committees ought to coordinate and designate regions where tourists can travel safely, said the Union MinisterOn the question raised by U Maung Myint of Mingin constituency on the reason why No 2 Steel Factory (Pinpet) Project in Taunggyi Township was suspended and the arrangement made to prevent losses to the country in future. Union Minister for Industry U Khin Maung Cho said studies were conducted for the benefit of the country and the people and with the coordination of National Economic Coordination Committee (NECC) and arrangements were made to prevent losses to the country and the people. The Union Minister added that future works will be conducted according to government policies and instructions.

Union Minister for Industry U Khin Maung Cho also responded to a question raised by U Thant Zin Tun of Dekkhinathiri constituency on plans to establish standard for steel and steel product referring to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) and said National Standard Council, relevant ministries, local and international organizations were cooperating toward establishing a Myanmar Industry Standard (MIS).

Similarly, questions raised by Dr U Than Aung Soe of Minhla constituency on official recognition of villages in Minhla Township; Dr U Tun Lin Maw of Kyangin constituency on taking action against river sand producing works and permission granting local authorities who violated rules, regulation and procedures; U Pe Than of Myebon constituency on legality of MraukU District management committee and Rakhine State Government dismissing and appointing Myebon Township Kokko Village Tract administrator and U Khin Zaw of Kawthoung constituency on when the housing project developers in Kawthoung Township will develop and transfer it to the government where answered by Deputy Minister for Office of the Union Government U Tin Myint.

Motion on utilization of idle state-own factories, joint venture factories and industrial zones

Next U Bo Gyi of Chauk constituency tabled a motion urging the Union Government to take action urgently to prevent wasting of public funds on matter of idle state-own factories that are to be privatized, idle factories, idle state-own factories already working with private sector and idle industrial zones.

The motion was supported by U Khin Cho of Hlaingbwe constituency. As the Hluttaw agreed to discuss the motion Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker announced for Hluttaw representatives who wanted to discuss the motion to register their names.

Myanmar medical degree, diploma and certificate bill

Following this, Health and Sports Development Affairs Committee secretary Dr Than Win tabled a Myanmar medical degree, diploma and certificate bill. After bill committee member Dr Wai Phyo Aung read and explained about the committee report and finding on the bill Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker announced for Hluttaw representatives who wanted to table amendment motion to register their names.
