The 2nd Yangon International Motor Show featuring several international car brands, including BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volvo, began yesterday at the Yangon Convention Centre (YCC).

The three-day show was formally opened by Yangon Region Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung, chairman of the Automotive Association U Aung Win, COO of GPI Myanmar Co Ltd, Mr. Anothai Eamlumnow, Thai Ambassador Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, officials of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), Myanmar Engineering Association, Council and Societies, TBAM, and MTCCI.

The main goal of the event themed ‘Future Driving Society’ is to promote the development of the Myanmar automotive market, recognize the new policy formulated by the Ministry of Industry, which aims to support auto-related businesses and local transportation, and promote road safety through the use of left-hand driving vehicles.

The show features a number of international automotive brands such as BMW, Brilliance, DFSK, Ford, Mitsubishi Fuso, GAC, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes- Benz, Nissan, Scania, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volvo.

CB Bank, one of Myanmar’s leading banks which has been operational for over 25 years and YIMS’ banking partner, will offer 10-per-cent down payment for customers buying a car by availing a loan from the bank. This would allow customers to purchase a new vehicle with ease at the show, which is aimed at supporting the growth of the Myanmar automotive industry.

The 2nd Yangon International Motor show is being organized by GPI Myanmar and the Automotive Association of Myanmar (AAM).

The show features latest car models, cutting-edge technology, and innovations.

Visitors to the show can test drive cars, participate in a modified street car contest, and browse the accessories area, which features trusted brands such as TRK Auto Seat, Lamina Film, and Aung Thein Than (Caltex).

Visitors who complete the questionnaire at the registration counter will get a chance to win the latest smartphones through a lucky draw. —GNLM
