As the Union Day celebration is a national-level ceremony, it is necessary to emphasize health and security measures, significantly tightening the security measures, said Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
At the first meeting of the Central Committee for Organizing the 77th Anniversary of Union Day 2024 held at the SAC Chairman Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, who is also in the capacity of Chairman of the Central Committee for Organizing the 77th Anniversary of Union Day, stressed the need to organize the ceremony aligned with five objectives of the 77th Anniversary of Union Day and Our Three Main National Causes.
The Vice-Senior General also stressed the need for relevant committees and subcommittees to review weaknesses and difficulties from previous ceremonies to make better processes for this year’s celebration through cooperation and coordination among them.
He highlighted that all attendee national brethren and dignitaries have to follow the protocol of COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health, although the COVID-19 virus may infect anyone despite the completion of the infectious period.
With regard to the important role of security, the Vice-Senior General called for increased security measures during the rehearsal and ceremonial process of the significant day.
He continued that products of the One Region-One Product scheme in relevant regions and states contributing to the MSME businesses for the development of the State economy should be displayed at the exhibition at the Union Day ceremony to enable businesspersons to exchange production technologies and seek good ideas for products.
The Vice-Senior General instructed officials to draw up a plan to identify significant occurrences in time and solve them during the Union Day ceremony. He underscored that the Ministry of Information needs to provide proper information and talk shows about Union Day through radio, TV, and newspapers.
Chairman of the Management Committee Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair U Than Tun Oo reported on the formation of relevant committees and the progress of work. Union ministers and officials from subcommittees also presented the progress of their sectors.
The 8th Anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement signed by the government, Tatmadaw and ethnic armed organizations for initiating the dialogue as a political culture for ending the more than 70-year ethnic armed conflicts was convened on a grand scale on 16 October 2023.
The 77th Anniversary of Union Day 2024 will be marked in line with five national objectives: To protect the perpetuity of the Union by the entire ethnic people through the Union spirit, to join hands in harmony with the government, Tatmadaw, and the entire people to ensure the state stability and rules of law, to promote all-inclusive livestock breeding-based manufacturing industries and MSMEs, ensuring the socioeconomic development of the entire ethnic people, to make collaborative efforts of all ethnic nationals to ensure the prosperity of the nation and food security which are the two national visions, and to strive to emergence of a modern and developed country, as well as a Union based on democratic and federal systems, by all ethnic nationals. — MNA/TTA
