Governmental departments in Myawady District tightened security measures along the Thaungyin River to prevent illegal border crossing between Myanmar and Thailand yesterday. The inspection was carried out by Myawady District Administrator U Tay Zar Aung and officials from the local army and the Border Guard Force, Township Police Chief Myint Htwe and Executive Officer of Township Development Committee U Saw Robert Htoo and members, officials from the General Administration Department, the Immigration and Population Department, the Fire Department and the Health Department of Myawady Township. The Township Development Committee checked the motorboat stations along the Thaungyin River with the permission of the Kayin State government.
Despite the suspension of border crossing amid COVID-19 spread, the reports on illegal crossing between the two countries have led to increase security. During the inspection, officials warned of legal actions against violation of laws and orders.
