The Sein Ta Lone variety of mangoes, also known as Diamond Solitaire, is selling well in the Muse trade zone, and fetching a good price, according to traders.
The mangoes started to enter the fruit depot of the North East Gate Public Company Limited this month. Mango varieties such as Sein Ta Lone, Hintha, Yinkwe, and Machitsu, among others, are supplied to the Muse trade zone. A basket of well-packaged Sein Ta Lone mangoes, weighing 15 kilograms, is currently valued at 100-170 Yuan. The prices of low-quality mangoes range from K45-110 per basket.
“The mangoes are fetching a high price, depending on the quality and appearance. Sein Ta Lone mangoes are not delivered to remote places as they are perishable. The Shwehintha mangoes are sent across Yunnan Province as they have some shelf life,” said a trader.
“There are 250 agents for fruits who are responsible for helping ensure smooth freight forwarding in the zone,” said U Soe Naing, the chair of the North East Gate Public Company.
Yesterday, about 15 trucks loaded with 6,000 mango boxes were seen flowing out of the Myanmar border trade channel to China.
