Seized motorbike exhaust pipes that caused noise pollution were crushed by a road roller in the town known as Katha in Katha district, Sagaing region yesterday morning.

A total of 132 motorcycle exhaust pipes seized in the town were destroyed by the road roller on “Lanmadaw” road in front of Katha Towshio Municipal Office in the presence of MP U Nyi Nyi Tun of Sagaing Region Hluttaw, the Township Development Management Committee Chairman U Kyaw Thu and members, Police Major Tin Htwee, deputy commander of the District MPF and members, Police Major Myint Aung, commander of the Township MPF and members, Police Captain Kyaw Oo and members of Katha Traffic Police Squad-106, the Township Judge U Than Htike Soe and members of the  Fire Brigade.

During water festival, motorbikes with exhaust pipes that cause heavy noises will be temporarily seized in order not to annoy people’s enjoyment of the festival.

After handing down a punishment, the seized motorbikes will be returned to the owners in the end of the festival.—Lu Aung ( Katha)
