Mongyaung, 26 May
A rural bridge over Namtyaw Creek which was built on a self-reliant basis was inaugurated in Lotngo Village, Mongyaung Township in Eastern Shan State on 25 May.

At the ceremony, Shan State lawmaker U Aik Kham Hlaing, Township Administrator U Nyi Nyi Win and a village elder opened the bridge by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. The bridge is of wooden type, 10 ft. in width, and 150 ft. in length and was built at a cost of Ks. 15 million contributed by local people. Local people from nearby villages will be able to travel to Mongphyat, Tachilek, and Kengtung via Mongyaung and Mongyu so that they can sell their products.
Inauguration of the bridge also contributes local people to all-round development such as economic, health, education, agriculture, livestock and religious affairs. In addition, local people will be able to pay homage to Htutlon Pagoda within short period of time.—Sai Aung Zaw Lin
