A ceremony to disburse social pension to senior citizens aged 85 and above was held at the meeting hall of the township General Administration Department in Nyaung Oo Township, Mandalay Region on July 28.

At the event, chairman of the District Administration Council U Nan Tint delivered an opening speech. Next, staff officer of the Township Department of Social Welfare Daw Myint Myint Than clarified the purposes of the provision of social pension for elderly people in the Township.

Under this social pension program, a total of 1261 senior citizens who were eligible to receive social pension from Nyaung Oo Township received Ks.37.8 million while 1683 senior citizens from Kyaukpadaung Township received Ks. 50.4 million from the months of April, May and June for 2023-2024 fiscal year.

Social pension were provided by U Nan Tint and Kaw Myint Myint Than and accepted by relevant village and ward Administrators.—U Win Htein
