Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation left Mingalardon Air Base yesterday for Viet Nam at the invitation of Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.


Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation will attend the 30th anniversary of National Defence Day and the 75th anniversary of People’s Army of Viet Nam Foundation Anniversary.


On arrival at the Noi Bai International Airport, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Lt-Gen Ngo Minh Tien, Myanmar Ambassador to Viet Nam Daw Win Sandar Swe, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy, Air) Brigadier General Aung Zeya and officials.


In the afternoon, the Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation visited the 102 Mechanized Infantry Regiment under the 308th Infantry Division of the 1st Corps of Vietnam People’s Army.


Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation also looked around at agriculture, livestock breeding, and military vehicles of the 1st Corps.


The 102 Mechanized Infantry Regiment was established on 6 January 1947 with 2,000 members. Its original name was the Regiment United Area (Interregional Regiment). A military meeting on 12 January 1947decided to develop it into a corp, according to the report of the Office of the Commander -in-Chief of Defence Services.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
