Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is already in India, called on India’s Prime Minister and Chair of the National Security Council Mr Narendra Damodardas Modi on 29 July at the latter’s residence.
At the meeting, matters relating to expressing gratitude for Myanmar’s cooperation to maintain peace and stability in the border regions, promotion of bilateral cooperative measures and cooperation between the two Tatmadaws, providing more assistance for empowerment of Myanmar’s Tatmadaw, the status of bilateral cooperation and peace and stability of the Rakhine State were discussed.
Then, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held separate talks with India’s National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr Ajit Kumar Doval, Deputy Minister of Defence Mr Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, and Chief of Indian Navy Admiral Karambir Singh and discussed matters concerning strengthening bilateral friendship and friendship between the two armed forces, cooperative measures for promoting peace and stability of the border areas, cooperation being carried out for the socio-economic development of the ethnic races and people in the border areas, cooperation as a good neighbouring country in accordance with India’s Act East Policy and cooperation with countries in the Indian ocean for the security of the Indian Ocean, according to the Office of the Commander in Chief of Defence Services. In the evening, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoahosted a dinner for Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party at the Akash Officers Mess.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party went to the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Ghaziabad yesterday morning. The Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) was established in Bangalore, India in 1954 and produced electronic equipment for the use of the defence services. There are a total of nine manufacturing units of BEL in India in addition to other units in foreign countries. The BEL manufactures a wide range of devices and equipment, including communications network security for ground, aerial and sea borders.
In the late afternoon, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party left for Varanasi by the Indian Air Force special flight.
