Hpa-an 14 August

Monsoon floods usually occur in Kayin State where local people experience plight of inundation almost every year. Some well-wishers from Yangon Region donated seven fiber boats equipped with engines to be used by residents in Kayin State in rainy season.

The boats were presented to Chief Minister of Kayin State Daw Nang Khin Htwe Myint during a ceremony held at the meeting room of the local government in Hpa-an on 13 August. At the event, the chief minister spoke words of thanks, saying the local government recognizes the contribution and generosity of donors to the flood victims. Next, the donors handed over seven fiber boats to the chief minister who returned certificates of honour to them. The fiber boats will be delivered to flooded areas such as Paingkyone, Hlaingbwe, Kyainn-Seikkyi and Kyonedoe.

Five fiber boats with 20 ft. in length and two fiber boats measuring 30 ft. long plus seven engines were worth Ks. 13 million.—Saw Myo Min Thein (IPRD)
