AS the group stage matches of the 2024-2025 ASEAN Club Championship will continue on 8 and 9 January 2025, Shan United, the Myanmar club, will compete against the Ma­laysian club, Terengganu at 6 pm Myanmar Standard Time on 8 January at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yan­gon. The matches will feature Shan United from Myanmar against Malaysia’s Terengganu FC, and at 6:30 pm Myanmar Standard Time in Thailand, BG Pathum United from Thailand will play against Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa. At 7 pm Myanmar Standard Time in Cambodia, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng from Cambodia will face Indo­nesia’s Makassar.

 

At 5:30 pm Myanmar Standard Time on 9 January in the Philippines, the Philip­pines Club Kaya FC will com­pete against Vietnam’s Ha­noi FC. At 6:15 pm Myanmar Standard Time, Singapore’s Lion City Sailors will face Ma­laysia’s Kuala Lumpur City FC. Then, at 7 pm Myanmar Stand­ard Time, Thailand’s Buriram United will compete against Indonesia’s Borneo FC.

 

In Group A, the Indonesian club Makassar, the Thai club BG Pathum United and the Vi­etnamese club Than Hoa have four points each. The Cambo­dian club Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng has grasped three points, while the Malaysian club Terengganu secured one point, and the Myanmar club Shan United has not scored any points yet.

 

In Group B, the Vietnam­ese club Hanoi and the Malay­sian club Kuala Lumpur City bagged six points each. The Thai club Buriram United and the Indonesian club Borneo have three points each. The Philippine club Kaya and the Singaporean club Lion City Sailors have not scored any points yet.

 

The first and second group matches were held in August and September 2024, followed by a three-month break, and the remaining matches will take place in January and Febru­ary 2025. Each group will allow only two teams to qualify for the semifinals. The Shan United, which has lost two matches, can only hope to qualify if they win the remaining three match­es. — Ko Nyi Lay/TTA
