AS the ASEAN Club Championship in the 2024-25 season will continue its group match-4 on 22 and 23 January, Myanmar football club Shan United FC will play a home match.
Shan United will meet with GB Pathum United of Thailand at the Youth Training Centre in Yangon at 6:30 pm on 22 January. In this regard, Shan United has to secure a good result in the coming home match as it lost to opponents in three consecutive matches.
The Shan United team has reached the quarterfinals in the AFC Challenge League which is one of the two international competitions they are currently competing in this season. However, they are struggling in the ASEAN Club Championship.
Shan United FC lost to Vietnamese club Thanh Hoa with a score of 1-3 away in the ASEAN Club competition, Indonesian club Makassar 3-4 away, and Malaysian club Terengganu FC 0-5 at home. The team to face Shan United FC, BG Pathum United, includes nine foreign players in addition to Thai national players.
After playing three games, Thailand’s BG Pathum secured five points but Shan United is yet to score any points. — Ko Nyi Lay/TTA
