An upgrade work on the Shwelaung Bridge was started on 20 November 2018 and construction task is almost completed.

 

The home-used cars and mini vehicles are allowed to begin passing through on the newly-built bridge as of 6 a.m. today. The bridge is of a reinforced concrete facility, measures 1,900 ft. in length and 30.5 ft. in width. The bridge’s motor lane is 24 ft. wide and has a 3 ft. long pedestrian walkway on its each side. The bridge’s clearance is 29.52 ft. and it can withstand 25 tons of weight and was built at a cost of K 5435,70 million.

 

The structure is being built by the Department of Bridge under the Ministry of Construction. Local authorities led by Township Administrator U Zaw Maw Aung supervised the passing of vehicles to facilitate commodity flow.—Hlwan Thiha
