The silicon statue of Ashin Nandamala Bhivamsa is nearly completed, according to a lead sculptor.
“We’ve moulded the body with silicon. The head will be sculpted separately and then attached to the body. It’s a sitting image. “The head itself is 80 per cent finished. We can take time since the clients don’t rush us,” said U Aung Kyaw Tun, a lead sculptor.
“After the statue is done, it will be placed at the monastery resided by Ashin Nandamala Bhivamsa in PyinOoLwin Township, Mandalay Region.
The monk, commonly known as Rector Sayadaw, currently serves as the rector of Sitagu International Buddhist Academy and an associate head (Upaukkatha) of Shwegyin Nikaya. He is also the Patron of Maha Thubawdayon monasteries. — ASH/NT
