Singapore film crew documents Myanmar’s hair trade

A  SINGAPOREAN  filming  crew  recently  filmed  Thet  Nay  Lin’s  business  in  buying,  cleaning  and  exporting  human  hair  from  Pyawbwe  Town-ship,  and  tthe  livelihood  of small business of local residents.


The  film  crew  first  filmed   women   donating  hair  at  Yegu  Myoma  Monastery in Mayangone Township,  Yangon.  They  took scenes of the presiding abbot sharing how do-nating hair is a meritable act  and  the  longest  hair  donated  in  record  was  the  550  feet  long  ‘Shwe-ze-pin  da-dar’  (Golden hair bridge) in Alaungdaw Katapa  garden,  Sagaing  Region.  The  film  crew  also   documented   the   hair trade in Yangon and Mandalay  regions  and  Chinese bicycles donated in Hmawbi, Tantapin and Taikkyi townships.


The filming is scheduled  for  broadcast  with  the Assignment Asia programme on CGTN Online Channel, which is based in China.
