A cyclist from Myanmar has arrived at Bayintnaung Cape in Kawthoung, the southernmost town of the country via outlying Town of Putao, on Saturday afternoon, May 18.

Cyclist Win Ko Ko Tun first successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. He started his solo bike trip on December 27, 2018, leaving the northernmost villages in Putao in Kachin State by bicycle. He arrived at Bayintnaung Cape in Kawthoung Township in Taninthayi Region, where he was welcomed by officials from the Amateur Cyclists Team of Kawthoung Township.

He biked more than 2,500 miles between the starting point and final point in nearly five months.

Win Ko Ko said the cycling tour took four months and 26 days, as it covers research on natural resources along the tour. He was cordially welcomed by ethnic people from the towns he passed.

His cycling campaign aims to develop nature-based sports, create sports grounds, develop tourism related to nature sports, share knowledge on environmental conservation, turn out healthy and strong generations in the sports sector, and enable the world to know more about Myanmar , which is endowed with natural beauty and forests.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
