The water level of Pawa Creek that flows to Taninthay River about 12 southwest of Taninthayi Township in Taninthayi Region is rising following incessant heavy rains in the area since yesterday evening.
As many as 100 homes in Thayargon Village along the creek were inundated by floodwaters from Pawa Creek, resulting in relocation of some residents to safer places. No casualties were reported due to the flooding, according to the village-tract administrator.
Some residential areas in low-lying areas were also submerged by floods. The water level of Taninthayi River reached 15 ft. and 8 inch, according to observations at 6 p.m. on August 5. The danger mark of Taninthayi River is 17 ft.—Nan Tharyi Htein Win
