The Small Scale Industry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation have opened a vocational training course on making value-added food at a vocational training center for women in Kyaukme Township, Northern Shan State since 14 May.
Principal of the vocational training school for women Daw Ngwe Ni said the course intends to help the trainees produce safe and hygiene food made of seasonal fruits such as rice, legumes, corn, wheat and crops in order to replace imported food. The course also aims at emerging the small-scale industries in the area, she added.
The course instructors from the SSID are giving practical and theoretical training on making different food such as cake, cookie, fried crispy onions, jams, juice, sandwiches, sauce and jelly by using teaching aid materials. The 10-day training course is being attended by 20 trainees throughout the township.—IPRD
