STATE Security and Peace Commission Member General Maung Maung Aye, accompanied by Commission Member Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union ministers, the Mon State chief minister and relevant officials, attended the opening ceremony of the Wariyu Myitkantha recreational site on Strand Road in Mawlamyine, marking the Mon State Day yesterday.
After the ceremonial procedures, officials presented cash awards to dance troupes.
General Maung Maung Aye and party attended the opening ceremony of booths, local products and traditional food stalls on the same evening.
They also attended the handover ceremony of seeders for farmers.
At the event, Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein remarked, and General Maung Maung Aye and party presented seeders to farmers.
On the same morning, General Maung Maung Aye, accompanied by Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and relevant officials, visited Mawlamyine Technological University, and heard the reports and made proper instructions.
General Maung Maung Aye and party also inspected land areas of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the upper main road of Phattan Ward in Mawlamyine. Officials reported on the data of land areas upon which the General made instructions. — MNA/KTZH
