State Counsellor arrives back in Nay Pyi Taw after defending lawsuit at The Hague

The delegation led by State Counsellor Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Daw Aung San Suu Kyi left the Netherlands by air at 5.30 pm local standard time on 13 December for Nay Pyi Taw.


The State Counsellor and delegation were seen off at Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam by Myanmar Ambassador to the Belgium and the Netherlands U Soe Lin Han and wife, Myanmar embassy staff, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.


The State Counsellor and delegation arrived at Bangkok in Thailand at 9.50 am local standard time yesterday, and were welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than and wife, Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Khin Zaw and officials of the Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché Office at Suvarnabhumi Bommi International Airport.


Afterwards, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and delegation left Bangkok by a special flight and arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon.


The State Counsellor and delegation were welcomed back at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by Union Minister U Min Thu and wife, Union Minister U Thant Sin Maung, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Myo Aung and wife, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Myanmar Mr. Wouter Jurgen and officials.


All along the way from the airport to Thabyegon Roundabout, MPs, employees, the general public, teachers and students chanting slogans and holding placards, saying, “Mother Suu, we wish health and every success!” and “We stand together with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi” were welcoming the State Counsellor in support of her service in the interest of the State.


Members of the delegation Union Ministers U Kyaw Tint Swe and U Kyaw Tin, departmental officials and legal advisers also arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw on the same flight. — MNA (Translated by TMT)
