Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, had a telephonic conference with General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Retd.), Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, at 1:00 pm on 5 November 2020.
During the discussion, the two leaders cordially exchanged views on matters related to the further enhancement of bilateral relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand, including the official opening of a Consular Office in the province resided by a large population of Myanmar migrant workers, rendering necessary assistance to Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand during the COVID-19 pandemic, closer collaboration in the fight against COVID-19, the possibility of opening of border checkpoints to promote border trade and to strengthen people-to-people connectivity, and strengthening cooperation in combatting human trafficking along the border between Myanmar and Thailand. —MNA
