Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 8 April 2019 at 10 am during his official visit to Myanmar.

During the meeting, the State Counsellor and the Malaysian Foreign Minister discussed cordially various issues on promoting bilateral relations and cooperation, the recent developments in Myanmar and Malaysia. They also exchanged views on the latest situation in Rakhine State and how Malaysia and ASEAN could assist Myanmar in facilitating the repatriation process of the verified displaced persons.

Present at the meeting were U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Malaysia to Myanmar and the members of the Malaysian delegation.

U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, also received Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, separately at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at 9 am. During the discussion, they exchanged views on promoting trade and investment, strengthening constructive engagements in resolving the issue of Rakhine State and further consolidation of ASEAN unity.—MNA
