A sub-power station was inaugurated in Shwe Pangon Village, Wetlet Township in Sagaing Region this morning to mark the country’s 50 percent electricity consumption from the National Grid.

The electrification facility was formally opened by Dr. Myint Naing, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region and concerned officials. “Residents in the village solely rely on livestock and agriculture like other nearby villages. Previously, we faced many difficulties for the agricultural business. Now we will be able to engage in agricultural tasks without difficulties,” U Han Tun, a village elder said.

Electricity from the sub-power station that was built with Ks. 1.919 billion of the local government’s fund will be distributed to 114 villages in Wetlet Township and 42 villages in Ayadaw Township.—Win Oo (Zeyar Taing)
