Homalin, 21 January

This year’s summer paddy, irrigated through streams, canals, and groundwater, is thriving in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region.

"In order to ensure the success of the summer paddy fields, the Township Agriculture Department is providing agricultural support such as training courses on planting methods, field demonstrations, pest monitoring, and guidance on the timely and appropriate use of both natural and chemical fertilizers," said Daw Su Su Htwe, staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department.

In Homalin Township, 11,000 acres have been earmarked for summer paddy cultivation in 2024-2025. As of now, 6,528 acres have already been planted. The planting target will be met using rice varieties such as Thai rice and GW-11, which are well-suited to the local climate, as well as local varieties like Muyawni, Mawtaik, Naungsuan, and Pachiwar.— Linn Linn (IPRD)
