Five airlines operating the domestic routes have extended the suspension of their domestic fights until the end of October to control the outbreak of COVID-19 better. The domestic airlines had suspended flying of domestic routes starting from 11 September when COVID-19 second wave started.


The suspension of flights was till 1 October, but the airlines have now extended the moratorium until 31 October.


At present, the Department of Civil Aviation has also extended a ban on arrival of the international airlines into Myanmar until 31 October.


With the suspension of the domestic routes, the five domestic airlines are refunding for the air tickets, but they also allow changing the flight schedule for the flight passengers.


The five domestic airlines in the country are Air KBZ, Air Thanlwin, Golden Myanmar Airline, Mann Yadanarbon and Myanmar National Airline.


At present, Myanmar has reported 20,033 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 471 deaths as of 7 October, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Health and Sports. —Zin Yaw Aye
