Thousands of travelers at airports across the United States have run into long delays due to a computer systems failure at the Customs and Border Protection agency. Officials say the system is coming back online.

The agency tweeted on Friday afternoon that a temporary outage was affecting systems at various airports.

Those affected include airports in New York and Los Angeles, where officers had to process passengers manually.

Customs and Border Protection says it is monitoring the incident and there is no indication so far the disruption was malicious.

Reuters says the agency processes more than 350,000 passengers and crew daily.
