In an attempt to prevent riverbank erosion, a group of people participated in an activity to plant saplings along the Ayeyawady River near Lethsaungyu Village, TadaU Township in Mandalay Region this morning.
Some villages along the Ayeyawady River in TadaU Township suffered from collapse and erosion of riverbank in the previous years. Departmental staff led by Chairman of the township management committee Township Administrator U Hla Win Aung, members of social organizations, employees from the Forest Department and villagers grew 300 saplings and grass that can prevent from riverbank erosion.
A total of 130 people took part in the collective tree planting ceremony held at three separate locations along the Ayeyawady River.—Ye Tint (IPRD)
