Members of the township quality inspection committee led by Chairman of the Township Management Committee U Thein Zaw made a field trip to look into upgrade of KhinU-Thinpaung Gravel Road to tarred one in KhinU Township, Sagaing Region on 30 July.

The upgrade of a three mile long, 12 ft. wide road was undertaken by five private companies that were awarded tender to upgrade the road through tender bidding system. Ks. 462.90 million of the regional government’s expenditure for the fiscal year 2018-2019 was spent on upgrading the road. The total length of the road from KhinU Town to Thinpaung Village is 22 miles and four furlongs. Out of the road, 14 mile is the tarred section while three mile is being paved with tar and the remaining 5 mile and four furlongs is gravel road.

The KhinU-Thinpaung Road links the Shwebo-Myitkyina and No.3 Inter-district road and is a route leading to historic Anyar Thihataw Pagoda, said Daw Kyi Kyi Wai, the Staff Officer from the Department of Road.—Soe Wai Aung
