TWO Tatmadaw vessels – Shwepuzun and riverine vessel Saku – are providing healthcare services to residents along the Ayeyawady River. A mobile medical team, including specialists, doctors and nurses, accompanied the vessels and arrived at Ward 1 of Dedaye Township, Ayeyawady Region, yesterday morning. Local Tatmadaw personnel and residents warmly welcomed the team.
The medical team provided healthcare services to 446 residents from Dedaye and nearby villages at Sutaungpyae Shwephonemyint Pagoda and Myohle prayer hall in Ward 1. The team treated 144 cases of general medical conditions, 11 surgical cases, 16 obstetric and gynaecological cases, 21 paediatric cases, 87 orthopaedic cases, 43 ear, nose, and throat cases, 91 ophthalmic cases and 33 dental cases.
Four more patients underwent general surgery, two received eye surgery, 19 had X-ray scans, 39 were tested with ultrasound, 38 had ECG heart tests and 52 underwent laboratory tests. Three patients requiring further treatment were arranged to be transferred to the nearest Tatmadaw hospital and township general hospitals. — MNA/KZL
