TATMADAW performed the second day of its eighth liver transplant operation at the Special Treatment Centre of No 1 Tatmadaw 1,000-bed Hospital in Mingaladon Township yesterday.
The operation was carried out on U Nyi Nyi, patient, and U Tun Tun Lin, donor.
The liver extraction from the donor started at 9:30 am and the extracted liver was transplanted at 5 pm. The operation took about 11 hours. Both the patient and the donor are reportedly in good health after the operation. They are now in the ICU under the care of specialists, medical officials and nurses.
The senior Tatmadaw officials observed the operation and encouraged the patients. — MAN/KTZH
